One morning, when swift was dressing, he found that his shoes were covered with mud. He called his servant to him and said : “My shoes are covered with mud. Why you didn’t clean them? You supposed to clean them each night”
“I thought it was useless to clean them in such a bad weather” the servant said. “They will only become dirty again in short time”
Later that day, when the servant appeared for his dinner, there was no food on the table for him. He went to Swift and asked the reason for this.
“I thought it was useless for you to eat” Swift said, “because you will only become hungry again in a short time”
